Originally founded in 1986, SilverKing arrived on the scene as a demand emerged for skiffs that could run shallower, cross choppy open water and be poled more easily. Later spearheaded by legendary skiff builder Mark Scott. This innovative company quickly set new standards for shallow water fishing boats during the late 1980s and early 1990s. SilverKing became renowned for their exceptional craftsmanship and unmatched performance. Mark Scott and his team crafted vessels that were not only aesthetically pleasing but also excelled in functionality and durability.
During its prime, SilverKing established itself as one of the finest tarpon fishing boats of all time. Anglers praised the boats for their superior maneuverability, stability, and shallow-water capabilities, making them the ideal choice for pursuing elusive gamefish in challenging environments. The attention to detail in every aspect of the boat's design made SilverKing the choice of some of the biggest names in shallow water fishing.
In 1995, big business acquired SilverKing, and unfortunately, they couldn't maintain the unmatched quality and craftsmanship that the original builders had made synonymous the brand. The once-revered name began to fade, and enthusiasts mourned the loss of the exceptional vessels they had come to rely on. Despite the new ownership's vast resources, the company struggled to replicate the same level of excellence that made SilverKing a legendary name in the industry.
After almost 25 years SilverKing will be returning to central Florida as a small custom builder. Under completely new ownership, the brand is poised for restoration and revitalization, reclaiming its rightful place among the best in the fishing industry. The renewed commitment to craftsmanship, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of what made the original SilverKings so exceptional promises a bright future for the brand.
With many original SilverKings still on the water almost 30 years later. They stand as a testament to their enduring legacy. Anglers can once again look forward to the impeccable quality, innovation, and reliability that define the SilverKing name. As the brand re-establishes itself, it aims to regain the trust and admiration of anglers worldwide, reminding them of the exceptional boats that first set the industry standard so many years ago.
The King will return in 2024.
